I joined Aaron and Michelle at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. for their engagement session. Inspired by Michelle’s professional background in the museum world and their shared love of the city’s architecture, the gallery felt like a naturally fitting choice. Just the previous summer, they had guided Aaron’s parents around the National Mall, and this engagement session—set against the marble halls, sunlit atriums, and sculptures—served as a nod to their personal history with these iconic spaces.
Later in September, I will have the honor of photographing their intimate backyard wedding at their home. It will be a beautiful contrast to the grand setting of their engagement shoot, yet equally filled with warmth, personal meaning, and authentic connection. Together, these two chapters of their story—one in the heart of the nation’s capital, the other in the heart of their own home—perfectly reflect who Aaron and Michelle are as a couple.
